Born Portsmouth 4.9.1917.
Died Waterlooville Hampshire 29.6.1988 of Motor Neuron Disease during which illness his only thought was for his wife.
Joined the Royal Navy 19.1.1933.
Retired from the Royal Navy 4.9.1957 having attained the rank of Petty Officer.
Served on HMS Javelin 19.8.1939 - 6.10.1940.
On leaving the Royal Navy he went into business on his own account.
Mentioned in Dispatches, appearing in the Supplement to the London Gazette 1 January 1941... The citation was "for outstanding zeal, patience and cheerfulness, and for never failing to set an example of wholehearted devotion to duty, without which the high tradition of the Royal Navy could not have been upheld"
Remembered with love and admiration for his patience, compassion, kindness to all creatures, human or otherwise, and his sense of fun
